Refundable advances
Also known as deferred revenue. Grants received from donors that have not been recognized as revenue because the conditions of the grant have not been met.
Long-term debt
These are debts borrowed by an organization payable in a longer period. These debts can be in the form of bank loans, publicly traded bonds, or privately arranged debt financing.
NET WORTH
Also known as Retained Earnings, or Net Assets, or Net Equity. Net Worth is the difference between what you own (Assets) and what you owe (Liabilities). To simplify, after turning your assets to cash, paying off all your debts, whatever amount is left is your net worth or fund balance.
Net Worth is classified into three categories:
1. Unrestricted
The part of funds of a not-for-profit organization not controlled by any donor, foundation, or grant making agency. These are funds of the organization readily available for use.
2. Temporarily restricted
These are the revenues from contributions temporarily not available for use. You can only use these funds in a given time set by the donor of the fund.
